The General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council in Syria has unequivocally affirmed its unwavering support for the populations of Suwayda, Dara’a, and other regions, echoing their aspirations voiced through large-scale anti-regime protests, which emphasize the call for freedom, dignity, and an honorable human existence.
Stated within an official release, the General Secretariat highlighted that the chants resonating among demonstrators in Dara’a and Suwayda profoundly signify an alignment with the collective Syrian populace’s will. This unified front, encompassing diverse segments and religious groups, underscores the urgent need for profound change in Syria, ultimately putting an end to oppressive rule.
The statement further pointed out that the protests witnessed in Suwayda and Dara’a stand resolute against the Assad regime’s brutal tactics. Beyond the immediate concerns for a dignified life, these demonstrations vividly demand the regime’s overthrow and the enforcement of UN Resolution 2254.
Addressing the international stage, the General Secretariat issued a call to the United Nations, the Arab League, and the global community at large, urging them to fulfill their obligations. This includes compelling the regime to adhere to UN resolutions while actively seeking a political resolution that alleviates the Syrian people’s hardships and tragedies, ushering in stability and security to the region.
