Around 60 civilians were killed and injured in airstrikes and barrel bomb attacks by regime and Russian forces on rebel-held areas in Aleppo and Homs provinces on Sunday.
At least 10 civilians were killed and over 20 others were wounded when Russian jets targeted a popular market in the town of Tal Aldaman in southern rural Aleppo on Sunday. Dozens of airstrikes also targeted the towns of Anadan, Huraytan, Kfara Hamra, Maaret Alartiq, Hayan, Tal Masibin, Alharamiz and Alleramoun in rural Aleppo.
Regime helicopters on Sunday dropped over 25 barrel bombs on the rebel-held parts of Aleppo, causing dozens of civilian casualties and massive destruction to the infrastructure.
Nearly 12 barrel bombs were also dropped in northern rural Aleppo earlier today. The FSA fighters, meanwhile, continue to repel attempts by ISIS militants to break into the town of Marea north of Aleppo.
The violent aerial bombardment and ISIS onslaught in northern rural Aleppo prompted an exodus of civilians to the town of Azaz near the Turkish border.
Regime forces on Sunday pounded the besieged district of Alwaer near Homs with 8 surface-to-surface missiles and dozens of artillery shells, killing 7 civilians, including 3 children and a woman, and wounding 25 more, including a rescue worker.
Regime forces have been blocking entry of food and medical supplies for over 100,000 civilians trapped in Alwaer for over three years despite a UN-brokered agreement that was reached in December 2015 to ease the blockade on the district. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
