The Free Syrian army took control of the entire city of Kafr Shams and its surrounding area in rural Dara’a, following fierce clashes with regime forces. Pro-regime forces responded by conducting multiple air raids on the town, causing civilian casualties.
The FSA also advanced on the town of Jadya near the strategic Al-Harra hill, amid clashes with regime forces in the town and near the regime-held Artillery Battalion for the second day.
Meanwhile, regime forces launched air raids on the town of Bosra al-Sham, which fell to rebels a few days ago, and also on Dara’a, Sheikh Misqin, Al-Hirak, Abtaa’, Inkhil and most rebel-held areas in Dara’a province.
Spokesman for the Syrian Coalition Salem al-Meslet called for the establishment of a no-fly zone in northern and southern Syria, warning that without, the territory may quickly fall back into the hands of the regime or ISIS. A no-fly zone will protect civilians on the ground from Assad’s aerial attacks, enable safer access for humanitarian aid and create the space needed to establish moderate governance and basic services.
