A number of rebel factions issued a statement yesterday confirming that repelling the regime’s offensive on Aleppo must be the top priority, and calling all the revolutionary forces, including Al Nusra Front, to direct their guns exclusively to regime forces. The statement stresses the signatories’ commitment to maintaining the safety of civilians, holding to account any faction that violates their rights, and making the defense of Aleppo the top priority. The statement also calls on Al Nusra Front to send reinforcements to Aleppo to help rebels check the regime’s advance on the city. According to the statement, any action taken against rebels without returning to the legal and civil arbitration commissions will be seen as an aggression against the signatory factions, therefore will be responded to as it derail the revolution off track. Furthermore, the statement announced the “suspension of all forms of cooperation and coordination with Al Nusra Front.” The signatory factions are Al Ansar Brigades, Al Haq Front, Syria’s Revolutionaries Front, Hazm Movement, Fursan al-Haq Brigade, the 13th and 101st Divisons, and Suqur al-Jabal.
