The Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) recently orchestrated a workshop titled “Consumer Protection and Ensuring Supply Control in the Liberated Areas.” The event took place at the SIG’s office in Aleppo province and attracted a prominent group of participants.
Among those present were Abdel Hakim Al-Masri, the Minister of Finance and Economy, Brigadier General Othman Hilal, Director of the General Directorate of Customs, Adnan Kanno, Director of Pharmaceutical Control, Ahmed Habo representing the Chambers of Commerce, the Director of Internal Ports in the Ministry of Defense, and heads of consumer protection departments and local councils.
The workshop encompassed a range of crucial topics, with a primary focus on consumer protection in the liberated areas. Key subjects addressed included the prevention of monopolies, shielding consumers from price fluctuations, market price monitoring, curbing price hikes, combating commercial and traditional fraud, and expeditiously addressing consumer grievances.
It’s worth noting that SIG has been actively prioritizing control-related matters. A recent initiative organized by the Ministry of Health involved a workshop held at the cultural center in the town of Azaz in rural Aleppo. Titled “Strengthening Drug Control in Northwestern Syria and the Role of Health Directorates and Border Crossings,” this event underscored SIG’s commitment to maintaining rigorous control measures in the region.
