Nasr al-Hariri, a member of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), has underscored the unwavering spirit of the Syrian people in their pursuit of political change, which has continued since the outbreak of the Syrian Revolution in March 2011. He noted that Suwayda province has experienced a notable upsurge in anti-regime activities, with escalating demands, increased demonstration points, and a growing number of protesters, culminating in the current zenith of this movement.
Al-Hariri emphasized that the Suwayda demonstrations convey explicit political demands, advocating for a transitional political resolution, the implementation of UN resolutions on Syria, and the departure of the ruling regime to pave the way for a new, democratic Syria that accommodates all its citizens.
He further highlighted the evident organization and management of the peaceful uprising in Suwayda, featuring slogans designed to counter the regime’s attempts to discredit the movement and associate it with foreign agendas or extremist groups.
Al-Hariri stressed the significance of the peaceful uprising in Suwayda, as it conveys clear messages on behalf of all Syrian people, reiterates the continuation of the Syrian revolution and its demands, and thwarts attempts to rehabilitate the Assad regime, particularly amid the recent wave of normalization with it. It also refutes the Assad regime’s propaganda and falsehoods regarding the protection of minorities.
Moreover, Al-Hariri conveyed a crucial message to the international community, highlighting that efforts to downplay the Syrian issue and appease Russia and Iran will not alter the reality on the ground. The Syrian people will persist in their demands to overthrow the regime and regain freedom, dignity, and justice.
