The Syrian National Army (SNA) and the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) have made significant gains in rural Aleppo and Hasakah as part of Operation Peace Spring. The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the elimination of 480 PYD militants a week after the start of the operation.
Sources on the ground said that the SNA and TSK took control of dozens of villages near the town of Ras al-Ain as well as made significant progress near the town of Tell Abyad.
The SNA and TSK on Monday launched a battle to take control of the town of Manbij in eastern rural Aleppo as about 6,000 fighters advanced towards the major town. Local activists said that the joint forces liberated several villages located near the town and captured a tank from Assad’s forces.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday said that an area of about 1,000 square kilometers was cleared of the PKK and PYD elements as part of Operation Peace Spring, pointing out that the operation will continue without interruption.
“Turkey aims to clear northern Syria of terrorists stretching from the town of Manbij to the Iraqi-Turkish border,” President Erdogan added. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
