Two Civilians Killed under Torture in Assad Regime & PYD Prisons

Local media outlets said that two people were killed under torture in the prisons of the Assad regime and the PYD militia as the United States called on the UN Security Council to raise the issue of detainees in the prisons of the Assad regime.

Smart News local news network quoted local sources as saying that Waleed al-Shanan from the village of Dibsi Shanan in al-Raqqa province was killed in the Branch 248 of the Assad regime’s military intelligence in the Damascus district of Mazza. The sources said that Shanan was killed as a result of electrocution.

Smart News said that the Assad regime forces detained Shannan three years ago and charged him with helping armed groups. It noted that his family knew of his death through his lawyer without the regime specifying a date for the handover of his body.

Al-Furat Post news network reported that Abdul Fattah Al-Madhash was killed under torture in a detention facility near the Omar oilfield in the province of Deir Ezzor, which is under the control of the PYD militia. Madhash was born in the town of Al-Jarzi in 1977.

The network pointed out that the PYD militia detained Madhash a month ago, adding that the militia refused to hand over his body to his family. Another civilian, Mohammed Al-Subeih from the village of Briha in the province of Deir Ezzor, was also killed under torture in the prisons of the PYD militia last month.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights said that 28 people had been killed under torture in Syria in July, 25 of which by regime forces and three by the PYD militia.

In its monthly report issued on Sunday, the Network said that detainees ae subjected to brutal torture in the prisons of the Assad regime. It noted that it registered the names of at least 14,227 people who have been killed under torture in Assad’s prisons, including 177 children and 72 women since March 2011. Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people’s unity within the same Syrian soil
is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its
symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes
against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
