The 59th regular session of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) General Assembly began in Istanbul on Monday. The session will last for two days during which the General Assembly will discuss the field and military situations, reports by the Syrian Interim Government, SOC’s committees, the Assistance Coordination Unit, the Recovery Trust Fund, and the Syrian Negotiations Commission. It will also make a thorough assessment of the political process.
The Assembly will discuss the latest political developments, especially the results of the latest session of the Constitutional Committee, as well as the political and military developments at the regional and international levels.
SOC’s President Salem Al-Meslet said that the SOC is keen on continued interaction with civil and revolutionary actors in the liberated areas, improving the level of administrative and services institutions, and benefiting from all existing expertise and competencies.
Al-Meslet also stressed the importance of taking the initiative and finding creative solutions in order to reach a political solution in Syria that takes into account the sacrifices of the Syrian people and their aspirations for freedom and dignity.
