The Media Office of the Syrian Coalition released a report on the deteriorated situation of education titled” Syrian Children Lose the Right to Learn.” The report sheds light on the tragedy of Syrian children who have been displaced and dropped out of school. According to the report, more than 16.422 children have been killed so far, and hundreds of thousands are deprived of educations due to the Assad regime’s deliberate targeting of schools and turning them into military barracks and detention centers. Moreover, Syrian refugees’ host countries are struggling to cope with the increasing number of Syrian refugees, especially since most of them are children. The report included statistics on the situation of Syrian children, especially those reported by UNICEF in its report released recently which stresses that three million Syrian children have been internally displaced, among them a million children are deprived of education, while another million are threaten to drop due to insecurity. The report also points out that “the interim Ministry of Education is making considerable efforts to meet the growing needs of Syrian schoolboys despite its limited resources.
