President of the Syrian Coalition Anas al-Abdah said that “to be faithful to our fallen heroes is to continue with what they had risen up and sacrificed their loves for.” Abdah made his remarks in a speech yesterday at a joint celebration with the Kurdish National Council on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Syrian revolution and the 2004 Kurdish uprising against Assad and on the occasion of.
“The Qamishli uprising was the spark that ignited the spirit of the revolution against injustice and tyranny. The blood of the Kurds that the Assad regime then shed is the blood of all Syrians,” Abdah said.
The ceremony which was held in Istanbul on Sunday was attended by a number of the Syrian Coalition members, the Kurdish National Council and head of the Syrian interim government Ahmad Tomeh.
Tomeh said that the Assad regime has always sought to drive wedges among segments of the Syrian society and undermine coexistence among Syrians.
For his part, member of the Syrian Coalition Ahmed Ramadan praised the 2004 Qamishli uprising against the murderous regime, commending the important role the Kurdish National Council played to bring Syrians together and its overcoming of obstacles to work together to liberate the homeland.
