The Syrian Coalition announced that it is in the process of adopting a new strategy at the political, military, and civil levels to confront the Assad’s regime which has being receiving substantial support from its allies.
At a press conference held on Saturday, President of the Syrian Coalition Anas Abdah said: “We are developing a new strategy for the Syrian revolution on the political and military levels.” He added that the Coalition is developing plans to form a unified political institution as well as a national army to protect the gains of the revolution and the Syrian people’s demands for freedom and dignity.
Abdah stressed that Aleppo will not fall, adding that the revolution “has already gone through what is happening today in Aleppo. We may lose some areas here or there, but the revolution is deep-rooted in the hearts and minds of Syrians and cannot be extinguished.” He pointed out that the Syrian revolution is continuing all over Syrian territory, stressing that the Syrian people will not go a single step back no matter the sacrifices.
Abdah noted that the Coalition supports the four-point initiative put forward by the FSA groups defending Aleppo, adding that main goal of the initiative is to “protect the lives of civilians in the city.”
Any international initiative must ensure that civilians stay in their homes in eastern Aleppo and prevent forced displacement, Abdah said. He added that any international initiative should aim towards opening the cities with no military presence to aid and allowing the affairs of these cities to be managed by local councils.
The Coalition will not endorse any political process that does not abide by the guidelines and principles of the Syrian revolution, Abdah said.
“Russia is committing war crimes in Aleppo by its systematic, deliberate targeting of hospitals. Russia unsigned the International Criminal Court out of realization that Russian leaders will eventually be tried in front of it.”
Abdah concluded his remarks by stressing that the Coalition is seeking to secure humanitarian and medical assistance to all civilians in the liberated areas. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Office)
