Abdelbaset Abdullatif, a member of the political committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), has strongly denounced the ongoing violations committed by the PYD militia against unarmed civilians residing in the areas under its control. He specifically condemned the recent detention of over 50 young men in the town of Manbij, located in eastern rural Aleppo, with the clear intention of subjecting them to compulsory recruitment.
Abdullatif emphasized that the PYD militia’s persistence in detaining young men for forced conscription highlights their reliance on a military strategy akin to that employed by the Assad regime.
He stressed the importance of human rights organizations closely monitoring the actions of the PYD militia in areas under its control, particularly regarding arrests and conscription, and urged them not to turn a blind eye to the atrocities unfolding there. Abdullatif pointed out that the continuation of these violations poses a significant threat to the security and societal harmony within these areas.
