Abdelbaset Abdullatif, a member of the political committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), has strongly condemned the ongoing violations perpetrated by the PYD terrorist militia against unarmed civilians in the areas under its control. Abdullatif expressed deep outrage over the recent killing of Mahidi Al-Khalaf, a young man who was tragically tortured to death in the prisons of the PYD militia.
Abdullatif emphasized that the PYD’s violations against unarmed civilians, particularly the use of torture and extrajudicial killings, demand accountability. These practices mirror the methods employed by the Assad regime, suggesting that the PYD is following in its footsteps.
Regarding Mahidi Al-Khalaf, Abdullatif revealed that he had been detained for a period of ten months in the PYD militia’s prisons in Raqqa city. Disturbing photographs published by the local news outlet, Al-Khabour Network, exhibit clear signs of brutal torture inflicted upon the young man’s body. Furthermore, during his detention, the deceased experienced memory loss to the extent that he failed to recognize his own wife during her visit ten days ago. This serves as further evidence of the severe torture that caused him to lose his memory, Abdullatif added.
Abdullatif underscored the importance of human rights organizations directing their attention to the prisons and detention centers operated by the PYD militia, urging them not to overlook the violations occurring within PYD-held areas. He warned that the continuation of such violations poses a significant threat to the security and social harmony of these regions. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
