Member of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee, Abdelbasset Abdullatif, stressed that the Assad regime has become a source of concern and danger to the whole world, especially to neighboring countries, after it has turned Syria into a major narco-state.
Abdullatif pointed out that the Assad regime resorted to the illicit drug trade to circumvent the sanctions and avoid economic paralysis, adding that it had recruited its militias for this purpose.
He also stressed the need for all countries to stop dealing with this regime that destroyed Syria and exported ruin, terrorism and drugs to neighboring countries.
The Jordanian army had announced that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large amount of narcotics coming from the regime-held areas. Around 154 hashish blocks and 900,000 Captagon pills were seized.
This is not the first time that large quantities of drugs coming from the Assad regime-held areas have been seized. International reports have confirmed that the regime has become one of the world’s major narco-states and drug dealers.
