The Secretary of the Political Committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdulbasit Abdullatif, emphasized that the school curricula imposed by the PYD terrorist militia in areas under their control are having negative consequences on the Syrian social fabric. He noted that the local population rejects having their children study these ideologically-driven curricula, which are alien to society and have no connection to their culture, history, or cultural heritage.
In a press statement, Abdullatif stressed that the PYD militia is attempting to instill discriminatory and distorted ideas based on ethnic affiliation through these curricula, as well as through morning chants that glorify non-Syrians. He added that these ideas are far removed from Syria’s long-standing identity and culture, which have traditionally been rooted in tolerance and peace.
According to Anadolu Agency, the town of Manbij witnessed student protests on Thursday, rejecting the school curricula imposed by the PYD terrorist militia in areas they control east of the Euphrates River.
Anadolu Agency reported that Manbij students expressed their outright rejection of the mandatory textbooks distributed by the PYD militia at the start of the new school year.
Videos circulating on social media showed students expelling PYD militants after they came to their school to distribute books. The students were seen tearing the books and throwing them into the air, expressing their rejection of the PYD’s curriculum in local schools.
