Abdulbasit Abdullatif, Secretary of the political committee in the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), said that the bombardment targeting residential neighborhoods in Aleppo, Idlib, and their surrounding since November 27 has been carried out by the Assad regime and its backers. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of over 100 civilians.
In a press statement, Abdullatif criticized the statements made by Adam Abdelmoula, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Syria, describing them as biased and failing to identify the perpetrators of crimes against civilians in Aleppo. He clarified that the incident mentioned by Abdelmoula, involving “bodies lying on the ground,” was the result of airstrikes by Assad’s forces on a residential area in central Aleppo.
Abdullatif also pointed out that Abdelmoula’s remarks about the “complete cessation of bread production in Aleppo” were incomplete, as they omitted the ongoing efforts by local civil organizations to distribute bread free of charge.
