Abdelbaset Abdullatif, a member of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s political committee (SOC), has called upon the international community, particularly those providing support to the PYD militia, to exert pressure on the militia to halt their recruitment of child soldiers. He emphasized the urgent need for the release of Rawa al-Bakri, a girl abducted by the PYD militia on Wednesday.
Abdullatif expressed dismay at the continued terrorist acts of the PYD militia, despite the SOC’s repeated calls for supporting nations to halt their assistance and pressure the PYD to cease its oppressive practices against the population.
He highlighted the imperative of taking a resolute stance to exert pressure on the militia and halt their terrorist activities, emphasizing that as long as support continues, their actions will endure.
According to the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), the PYD militia kidnapped Rawa Al-Bakri, a young girl from the village of Maryamin in the sub-district of Afrin, northwest of Aleppo province. Born in 2011 and residing in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo, Rawa was taken to one of the PYD militia’s recruitment centers.
The SNHR further disclosed that approximately 246 children remain in captivity, kidnapped by the PYD militia for forced conscription.
