Activists in the town of Azaz in Aleppo’s countryside organized a sit-in protest in front of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) office to demand an end to the brutal bombing carried out by the Assad regime and its allies in rural Idlib and western rural Aleppo.
Najib Rahmoun, the coordinator of SOC’s office in rural Aleppo, along with SOC members Atef Zureiq and Muhammad Asaad Alito, participated in the protest, joined by several media and human rights activists.
Zureiq called on the United Nations and the Security Council to urgently intervene to cease the bombing of Idlib immediately and unconditionally, emphasizing their responsibility towards civilians enduring direct bombardment with internationally banned weapons.
Meanwhile, Alito stressed that the regime’s heinous crimes persist against civilians in northwestern Syria without any action or deterrence by the international community. He underscored the need for the United Nations and all countries involved in Syria to shoulder the responsibility for halting the bombing of civilians.
