On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Nora al-Ameer, vice president of the Syrian Coalition, delivered a speech during a conference held in Geneva entitled “Syrian Women and Resisting Hell in the Struggle for Freedom.” She highlighted the role of the Syrian women in the revolution and the violations they have subjected to at the hands of the Assad regime and ISIS. She provided testimonies via Skype of Syrian women activists who had been arrested and were subjected to violations during detention in Assad’s jails. Tariq al-Kurdi, of the Interim Ministry of Justice, presented statistics and documents on violence against women in Syria. Al Ameer also presented a video prepared by the Media Office to highlight the role of the Syrian women in the revolution. The audience, a mixture of Syrian and Swiss attendees, interacted positively with the subject of the speech, calling for stepping the efforts to convey the voice of the Syrian revolution to the whole world.
