The Syrian Coalition condemned the crime committed by the Russian air force in the town of Albu Leil in rural Deir Ezzor where 16 civilians, including women and children, were killed in Russian airstrikes on Tuesday.
Member of the political committee Nasr al-Hariri called upon the international community to support the armed groups that have been fighting the Assad regime and ISIS in Deir Ezzor province. He stressed that local rebel fighters are able to expel both regime forces and ISIS from the province and restore stability and security to the province.
Hariri pointed out that there are about 200,000 civilians who have been struggling to survive for nearly a year in the besieged parts of Deir Ezzor. He added that the city suffers from severe shortages of the necessities as a result of the siege ISIS imposes on parts of the city.
Hariri called upon the international community to put an urgent effective plan to rescue the civilians trapped in Deir Ezzor, warning of a repeat of the Madaya disaster. He expressed hope these appeals will be met with a serious response, unlike the previous calls which have gone unnoticed.
Concluding his remarks, Hariri appealed to the humanitarian organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Syrian Red Crescent to provide urgent aid to civilians trapped in Deir Ezzor. He stressed that regime forces stationed in the city must not play any role in the delivery of aid. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
