Abdulbasit Abdullatif, the coordinator of the Al-Jazira and Euphrates Working Group in the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), presented the group’s work report to the coalition’s General Assembly.
In his report, Abdullatif highlighted the continuing crimes committed by the terrorist PYD militia, including arbitrary arrests, torture leading to death, forced recruitment, the abduction of children, and their conscription into military camps. He also criticized the introduction of ideological curricula promoting the ideas of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is classified as a terrorist organization on international lists.
Abdullatif also addressed the main difficulties facing residents in the town of Tal Abyad in Raqqa province, and Ras al-Ayn in Al-Hasakah province. He noted the lack of a governing council for Al-Hasakah province, a shortage of essential services and medical staff, and a decline in the quality of education, with students dropping out of school. In addition, he emphasized the low wages paid to teachers, the absence of universities, worsening living conditions, and weak activity at the border crossings. He also highlighted problems in agriculture and the challenges farmers face in selling their crops.
Abdullatif stressed the need to resolve these issues and provide support to residents to improve living, service, and economic conditions. He recommended exempting farmers in the Tal Abyad area from taxes and fees to ease their financial burdens.
