President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, denied the allegations that the Russian news agency Sputnik made on Tuesday. He stressed that Türkiye’s position on the Syrian revolution is still the same and that Türkiye continues to support the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom, dignity and democracy.
Al-Meslet said that “the news that Sputnik circulated is not true as there has been no statement from any Turkish official towards the SOC.” He also stressed that the news that has been circulated about the SOC recently is not true.
Al-Meslet said that the latest meetings with Turkish officials were positive and constructive as they came within the framework of coordination and cooperation to reach a political solution in Syria in accordance with Security Council resolutions, especially the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN resolutions 2118 and 2254.
Moreover, Al-Meslet made it clear that the SOC’s relationship with Türkiye is solid and firm. He also said that the SOC has recently expanded its presence in Türkiye by opening new offices in a number of Turkish provinces, especially in Ankara with the aim of strengthening international relations with diplomatic missions; contributing to opening new channels of communication with representatives of friendly states; and addressing the legal affairs of Syrian refugees in Türkiye.
