President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, said that the SOC is monitoring the latest lies and disinformation campaigns that have been circulated on social media and reported by some media outlets without verifying their authenticity or inquiring about their sources. He stressed that it is necessary to verify the news being reported about the SOC, making it clear that all media outlets can contact the SOC for comments on these rumors.
Al-Meslet stressed that the reports recently published by some media outlets about the SOC seeking reconciliation with the Assad regime as baseless and unsubstantiated. He also stressed that the statements and minutes of s0-called meetings that that have been recently circulated are untrue and baseless. He called on everyone to be wary of misleaders who are constantly seeking to drive a wedge between the SOC and the free people of Syria.
“We cannot backstab our people. Only an dishonorable person does that,” Al-Meslet said, adding: “To rush towards the regime means that we are abandoning our dignity and ethics, and this has not and will not happen. We will lose dignity if we shake hands with a criminal who destroyed Syria and killed its people.”
Moreover, Al-Meslet stressed that “the SOC emerged from the Syrian people and will not give up their rightful demands to overthrow the Assad regime and hold its symbols to account. The Syrian people drew these demands with the blood of hundreds of thousands of fallen heroes, tens of thousands of detainees and millions of displaced people. These demands are not negotiable.”
Al-Meslet called on the Syrian people to trust the decisions of the SOC as their legitimate representative, reaffirming the SOC’s unwavering commitment to the goals of the Syrian Revolution.
