President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, condemned Algeria’s continued ignoring of all warnings against dealing with the murderous Assad regime and against involvement in rehabilitating the Assad regime and normalization of ties with it. He stressed that this policy is wrong and may only bring catastrophes to Algeria and the brotherly Algerian people.
Al-Meslet stressed that the warning against dealing with the Assad regime does not come from its perpetration of heinous crimes and massacres against civilians in Syria only, but also from the dire consequences of such move on Algeria. He made it clear that the Assad regime has become a tool in the hands of Russia and Iran, while relying on militias that live off murder, torture and drug trafficking.
Al-Meslet called on Algeria to reconsider its decision and abide by the positions of the Arab League and the rest of the Arab states that refuse to deal with the Assad regime or normalize relations with it.
Al-Meslet stressed that the Syrian people appreciate the tremendous sacrifices that the Algerian people made to regain freedom and independence, the goals for which the Syrian people have been fighting for since 2011 and been making tremendous sacrifices to fulfill their aspirations for freedom, dignity and democracy.
