Head of the opposition’s negotiating delegation to Geneva Asa’ad Alzoabi said the Hezbollah militias have been recruiting children to fight alongside the Assad regime, calling on the international community to take action in order to stop the flow of foreign fighters to Syria. Alzoabi pointed out that the Iranian regime has not stopped sending sectarian-driven mercenaries to prop up the Assad regime.
Alzoabi revealed that 4,000 Iranian-backed militiamen arrived in Aleppo this week to join more than 80,000 fighters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Afghan militias who have been fighting alongside regime forces. He added that the Assad regime relies on Iran to supply him with fresh troops due to the severe shortage of manpower caused by over five years of war on the Syrian people.
Alzoabi pointed out that that last patch of the Iranian-backed foreign militiamen received training in southern Damascus and near Aleppo, adding that majority of those mercenaries are Iranian and Afghan nationals.
The Syrian Coalition called on the international community on Wednesday to take concrete, serious action to respond to child recruitment taking place within the ranks of regime forces and the Iranian-backed foreign militias. It said child recruitment by Assad in his unjust war on the Syrian people has long been exposed and is known to everyone following the situation in Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Alsharq Alawsat)
