Four civilians were killed, and six others were injured in airstrikes carried out by Assad regime warplanes on the city of Idlib on Friday.
The Syrian Civil Defense reported thatt the Assad regime and Russian aircraft targeted residential neighborhoods, a fuel station, and a school in Idlib, resulting in four deaths and six injuries.
According to the Response Coordination Group in Syria, the past three days witnessed 126 attacks by Assad’s forces and 85 airstrikes by Russian and regime forces. These attacks have claimed the lives of 20 civilians, including four children and three women, and injured 45 others, among them 18 children and seven women.
The group also highlighted a sharp increase in displacement cases, with 10,894 households forced to flee, including 27,577 children and 19,474 women.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) condemned the escalating assaults initiated months ago by the Assad regime and Iranian-backed foreign militias in northern Syria, which have intensified daily. Using rockets, artillery, and drones, the attacks have deliberately targeted civilians and public infrastructure. These acts have fueled growing public demands to halt the escalating hostilities, which appear to be paving the way for even more aggressive operations aimed at exacerbating civilian suffering, triggering new waves of displacement and refugees, and destabilizing northwestern Syria.
The SOC noted that this intensification of violence has prompted military leaders in the affected areas to launch operations to counter the regime and its Iranian-backed militias. The goal is to deter these assaults, protect civilians in northwestern Syria, and ensure the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of displaced individuals to their liberated villages and towns, free from sectarian militias.
The SOC emphasized that millions of Syrians cannot endure the current dire conditions, compounded by dwindling humanitarian aid, ongoing war crimes, and the persistent dominance of Iranian influence and militias. Additionally, the regime continues its attacks and violations against civilians while stalling the political process under baseless pretexts.
