Activists in Daraa province have accused the security services of the Assad regime and Iranian militias of being responsible for most of the assassinations, arrests, and kidnappings in the province during the month of March. The security situation in the province has been deteriorating since July 2018.
According to the Free Houran Conglomerate, 40 people were killed in Daraa province in March. The group recorded 26 operations and assassination attempts, which resulted in the deaths of 21 people and the injury of 8 others. Five individuals survived the assassination attempts.
In March, the Conglomerate also documented the arrest of 36 people, including a woman, by the forces of the Assad regime and the Eighth Brigade in Daraa province. Fifteen of those arrested were released during the same month. Additionally, the office recorded three cases of kidnapping in the province in the same period.
The Conglomerate believes that the number of detainees in the province is higher than the number it documented, as many families of detainees are afraid to provide information about their loved ones due to fear of retaliation by the Assad regime. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
