The Response Coordinators Team in Syria reported that it has documented at least 57 attacks by Assad regime forces, Russia, and PYD terrorist militia on civilian facilities and infrastructure in northwest Syria since the beginning of 2024.
The team reported that these attacks targeted 10 IDP camps and shelter centers, 25 educational facilities, 8 medical centers and facilities, and 14 various service facilities (such as electricity stations, water stations, public markets, places of worship, etc.).
According to the Response Coordinators Team, the attacks have resulted in 26 civilian deaths, including two women and eight children, along with 79 injuries—14 women and 18 children among them. The distribution of these targeted facilities includes 39 in Idlib province and 18 in Aleppo province.
The report noted that the number of people benefiting from the services provided by these targeted facilities is approximately 19,756 people in IDP camps and shelters, 11,383 children in educational facilities, 55,871 individuals in medical centers, and 571,224 individuals in various service facilities.
The team stated that 12 of the targeted facilities are included in a UN mechanism aimed at preventing such attacks.
The Response Coordinators Team stressed that the responsible parties include regime forces with 41 attacks, PYD militia with 7, Russian forces with 6, and 3 additional attacks attributed to other groups.
Hadi al-Bahra, President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), emphasized that the international community must take deterrent measures to halt the ongoing crimes against civilians, including the bombing of children, women, and public facilities, such as schools and hospitals, along with repeated violations of ceasefire agreements and protocols.
Al-Bahra added that the lack of decisive international action against the crimes of the regime and its allies encourages further violations of international norms and laws that prohibit the targeting of educational and other protected facilities.
