Bashar al-Assad sacked Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil today, for being absent from work, according to official sources of media institutions of the regime. The official spokesman for the Syrian Coalition Louay Safi, said, “The regime of Bashar al Assad and Russian Foreign Ministry want to negotiate with the opposition with Qadri Jamil and others whom he described as an integral part of the structure of the regime.” Abdel-Rahman Haj, member of the Secretariat of the National Council, described Qadri Jamil yesterday: “as fake and an integral part of the regime of Bashar al-Assad,” and added:” We do not accept that this individual communicates with us, and he will not find any of the revolutionaries who would accept his attempts to make contacts with.” Hajj also considered “the presence of the likes of these opponents in Geneva 2 as deceptive and that it’s like when the regime negotiates with itself.” This came in response to a statement made by Qadri Jamil in an interview with Russia Today Channel about the existence of “individual and unofficial contacts with the external opposition, including the Syrian Coalition.” Jamil claimed that he is in Geneva in his capacity as a representative of the internal opposition and said that his presence in Geneva shows that Geneva 2 is going forward. After making tributes to Brahimi’s statements that support the regime, Jamil said that “our initial position was that there should not be impossible conditions put forth for holding Geneva 2 because this conference will be a way out for all regional parties involved in Syrian crisis.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
