Member of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee, Bahjat Atassi, said that the renewed shelling by the Assad regime forces on civilian areas on the outskirts of the town of al-Atarib in rural Aleppo demonstrates its insistence on pursuing a criminal policy. He strongly condemned the international community’s silence about these crimes.
Atassi pointed out that security and stability will not return to Syria unless there are firm positions to stop the crimes of the Assad regime and its backers, stressing that the lives of civilians in Syria should not remain just numbers.
Six people, including two children, were injured in artillery shelling by the Assad regime forces on the outskirts of al-Atarib on Friday. The shelling also targeted the villages of Al-Fatira, San, Al-Nairab, Maarat Al-Naasan, and Kafarama.
On Monday, a civilian was killed and another one was wounded in artillery shelling by the Assad regime forces while they were harvesting olive trees near the village of Maarbelet in southern rural Idlib.
