Hadi al-Bahra, president of the Syrian Coalition, said that “Egypt has not yet proposed an initiative to help broker a political solution to the conflict in Syria, though it still supports a solution that ensures a transition of power and achieves the aspirations of the Syrian people and ends the bloodshed. The talks I hold with Egyptian officials we discussed the situation in Syria and the size of the human tragedy affecting the Syrian people in light of the failure of the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards the Syrian refugees in neighboring countries and the displaced people inside Syria.” The talks also discussed the situation of the Syrian refugees in Egypt, especially the “urgent need for cooperation in order to reunite families as well as the situation of the Syrian students in Egyptian universities, especially the graduate students who are waiting the decision of the Egyptian government to admit them in the Egyptian universities. In his reply to a question about extremist organizations in Syria, Bahra said that “the Syrian people are moderate Muslims and reject radicalism, and they will not allow any armed group to impose certain ideologies and beliefs on them by the force of arms.” A delegation of the Syrian Coalition arrived yesterday in Cairo and held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi on the ongoing conflict in Syria. The delegation is headed by Hadi al-Bahra, president of the Syrian Coalition and Nasr al-Hariri, the Secretary General and members Khaled Nasser, Haitham al-Maleh, Salah Darwish, and Qasim al-Khatib. The delegation calls for a greater Egyptian in finding a political solution to the conflict in Syria that ensures the departure of Assad and restore stability, stressing its rejection of any solution or settlement that comes at the expense of the rights Syrian people or the integrity of Syrian territory. Moreover, the delegation stresses that establishing a buffer zone in Syria is not solely a Turkish requirement, but one that has been made by the Syrian people since Assad unleashed his killing machine and air force against the Syrian cities and towns.
