The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) called on the US administration to commit to the act that he US Congress previously adopted and which requires the disclosure of the personal wealth of Bashar al-Assad, his family and inner circle.
Secretary of the SOC’s political committee, Abdul Majeed Barakat, called on the US administration to commit to the law attached to the budget of the Ministry of Defense for the fiscal year 2022, and to reveal the personal wealth of Assad. He also called for abiding by the 90-day timeframe set by the law, which ends next week.
Barakat also called on the US administration to show more seriousness towards Syria, especially that the Russian invasion of Ukraine exposed the failure of the US policy in Syria during the past several years. He stressed that the current US policy in Syria encouraged Putin to launch a brutal aggression on the territory of a neighboring country and a member of the United Nations.
