Abdul Majeed Barakat, Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the heart of Afrin city in rural Aleppo on Tuesday. He emphasized that the Assad regime and the terrorist PYD militia have a persistent agenda of destabilizing the region and terrorizing civilians in liberated areas.
Barakat underscored in a press statement that SOC, through its executive arms led by the Syrian Interim Government, is actively working to improve security and stability in liberated areas. He said that the recent terrorist attack underscores the true intentions of the Assad regime and the PYD militia: obstructing any progress or successful initiatives in northern Syria.
Additionally, Barakat highlighted the significant efforts of the Ministries of Defense and Interior within the Syrian Interim Government, which have successfully thwarted numerous terrorist attacks in recent years. He reiterated their commitment to preventing further attacks, apprehending those responsible for this latest incident, and ensuring the ongoing security and stability of the region.
The attack in Afrin resulted in the injury of four individuals, including a child, following a motorcycle bomb explosion near the Newroz roundabout.
