The Syrian Coalition calls on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards “the serious breach of the Geneva Convention, represented by the regime’s admission that it targeted a field hospital in Saraqeb. The regime-owned SANA reported that a unit of Assad’s forces targeted a field hospital near the city of Saraqeb. The Syrian Coalition said that this is a serious breach of the Geneva Convention related to the protection of basic human rights during wartime. The Assad regime has been applying a strategy of deliberately targeting schools, mosques, hospitals, medical centers, relief warehouses and residential areas.” The Syrian Coalitions “extends condolences to the family of Hossam Jarroud, a doctor who was working in the anti-polio campaign. The Assad regime not only deprives children of vaccination; but also deliberately targets and kills workers in this field.” The Coalition pointed to that this “crime necessitates taking serious legal and political steps to stop Assad’s killing machine.” The Syrian Coalition hailed the fighters of the free Syrian Army in various parts of the provinces of Dara’a and Quneitra. “The latest victories of the FSA has boosted the resolve of their comrades on all fronts. The fight for freedom and dignity will continue all over Syria, while we still seek a political solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people, and spares Syria more blood so that the Syrian people be able to lay down their arms and start rebuilding their country.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
