Syrian activists accused the PYD terrorist militia of impoverishing society even though it generates millions of dollars worth of oil revenues. They indicated that the de-facto authority is following in the footsteps of the Assad regime in starving and impoverishing the population of the region which is rich with resources, namely agriculture and oil.
The activists added that the de facto authorities are avidly seeking to impoverish the population with the aim of empowering themselves and imposing their rule on civilians across Syria by keeping the people at the mercy of the relief organizations cooperating with those authorities who rule the people by the force of arms.
Save the Children charity on Thursday said that more than 16,000 children in the PYD-held areas suffer from malnutrition, indicating that the number increased by more than 150 percent in just six months.
The children charity indicated that the number of malnourished children in the PYD-held areas rose from 6,650 between October and March 2022 to 16,895 between April and September 2022.
The organization also indicated that about 5.5 million people across Syria will need direct nutrition assistance in 2022-2023, half of them in northeastern Syria.
“While the average family income has not increased, food prices skyrocketed by almost 800% between 2019 and 2021 and continue to rise in 2022. This massive price hike is forcing an ever-increasing number of people to go hungry,” Save the Children added.
