President of the Syrian Coalition Anas Alabdah and head of the Syrian interim government Jawad Abu Hatab visited Syrian refugee camps in the Turkish town of Islahiye in the southern Gaziantep province on Monday on the occasion of World Refugee Day.
President Alabdah thanked countries hosting Syrian refugees; in particular neighboring countries. He stressed that the international community creating appropriate conditions for the return of Syrian refugees to their homes is the only feasible solution to the refugees crisis.
Head of the interim government Abu Hatab gave an overview of the government’s plans and programs to be implemented in the coming period. He pointed out that improving health and education services will be the interim government’s top priority.
Abu Hatab stressed the need to boost the agricultural and industrial potential in liberated areas in order to revamp the economy. He also referred to plans to open a military academy in Aleppo Free University with the participation of all FSA groups.
As of June 1, 2016, the number of Syrian refugees reached 4.84 million, while around 6.6 million people are internally displaced. Nearly one out of every two Syrians was forced to leave their home.
