Khalid Saleh, head of the Coalition’s Media Office, calls on the international community to pass a binding UN Security Council resolution “to end Assad’s systematic massacres and which meets the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, justice and dignity.” Saleh stresses that this resolution can only be passed through “putting pressure on Russia and China to end the stalemate in Syria.” Saleh’s remarks came as a response to “the heinous crime that resulted from the explosion of a car bomb outside a mosque in the town Yadodeh in Dara’a province, leaving behind 20 people dead and dozens wounded.” This crime can be put in the context of series of crimes committed by the Assad regime who has been deliberately targeting mosques after Friday prayers since the start of the revolution. Furthermore, Saleh points out that “the Assad regime seeks through these heinous crimes to overcome the will of the Syrian people by starvation, chaos and murder. Saleh also said that Assad is taking advantage of the international community’s inaction, oblivious to the fact that the will of the people cannot be defeated and that tyranny will never prevail.
