Secretary-General of the Syrian National Coalition, Abdel Basset Abdel Latif, on Wednesday held an expanded meeting with the Syrian Supreme Hajj Committee to discuss preparations for the upcoming Hajj season and the registration process in the Committee’s offices.

The meeting brought together the Director of Syrian Hajj Samer Bayrakdar, members of the Committee, members of the Supervisory Committee, and leaders of the pilgrim’s groups.

Abdel Latif, who is also the Deputy Head of the Supreme Hajj Committee, gave a detailed overview of his recent visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he signed the Hajj policy. He also held various technical meetings with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the relevant institutions supervising the Hajj pilgrimage.

Abdel Latif thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the facilitations provided to the Syrian pilgrims as he conveyed to the participants the thanks of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Minister of Hajj, and the Saudi officials to all workers and supervisors of the Syrian Hajj. He praised their work and their ability to withstand the pressures and beat off the major challenges facing the Syrian pilgrims, stressing that Kingdom considers the Syrian Supreme Hajj Committee one of the best committees in organizing Hajj.

Participants in the meeting exchanged views on the problems and obstacles that might face Syrian pilgrims and the best mechanisms for solving and overcoming them.

Abdel Latif held another meeting with the Syrian Supreme Hajj Committee and the members of the Supervisory Committee to discuss the laws governing the Syrian Hajj for the current year as they stressed the need to cooperate in order to advance the upcoming Hajj season.

They also reviewed the assessments of applications for the current year in the Committees’ offices in all countries and compared them with the previous year.

The Syrian Supreme Hajj Committee has recently announced it would begin receiving applications for Hajj for the year 2020 (1441 Hijri). The reception of applications ends on February 13th. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people's unity within the same Syrian soil is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
