Ahmed Jarba, president of the Syrian Coalition, arrives in China today along with a delegation in a two-day official visit to Beijing that will last. Badr Jamous, Secretary General of the Syrian Coalition, said that “the delegation of the Coalition will meet with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his deputy and members of the Institute of diplomatic relations on Tuesday.” The delegation also includes the Coalition members Fayez Sarah and Koeman Hussein. This is the first official visit by the Syrian Coalition to China at the request of China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi. It is expected that the Chinese invitation represents a shift in China’s position on the Syrian crisis, which has become more positive after a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC the Coalition president Ahmed Jarba on the sidelines of Geneva II conference held on February. China had previously joined Russia three times in the vetoing of UN resolutions that condemns the the Assad regime in the UN Security Council. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
