Coordinator of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee, Abd al-Basit Abd al-Latif, presented a report on the Committee’s work in the past two months before the General Assembly of during its 65th meeting.
Abdul Latif pointed out that the Committee held four important meetings, in which they discussed the difficult conditions experienced by the residents in the areas east of the Euphrates, which are controlled by the PYD terrorist militia.
He pointed out that the PYD terrorist militia’s crimes include premeditated killing, arrest, kidnapping, forced conscription, and preventing the population from freedom of expression through its repressive apparatus that mirrors the methods of the Assad regime.
Abdul Latif talked about the drug trade being carried out by the Assad regime, the concentration of its factories in the city of Deir Ezzor, and the participation of Assad’s forces and his affiliated militias in selling drugs.
He also gave an overview on the results of the workshop held by the Committee under the title “Emptying the Al-Jazira and Euphrates Region from the Population”, which brought together activists, politicians, research centers, media professionals and residents of the region.
