A Story Of A Child Named Muhammad
Muhammad, a little kid, roams over the rubble to search for wood or any flammable objects that can give warmth to himself and his family who sought shelter in a basement in Aleppo for fear of explosive barrels that have been dropped by Assad’s air force on civilians for the past 12 days. One can easily notice his shag hair, chapped hands, and a number of sweaters with different and asymmetrical colors, worn by Muhammad to protect himself from the harsh winter. While talking about Bashar al-Assad he utters obscenities and inappropriate language that fits well with the tyrant. The boy utters them artlessly, with all childlike sincerity out of the enormous hate the boy harbors towards Assad. “He is killing the people,” is the simple phrase the boy uses to demonstrate why he hates Assad. The video of the boy went viral on Facebook pages, and Syrians widely shared it, either as a kind of humor, or because they felt deeply moved by the video. Dr. Jawad Abu Hatab, head of the Health Committee of the Syrian Coalition, said that the Assad regime is “taking revenge of civilians by bombing residential buildings and bakeries by barrel bombs, after he failed to regain control of the liberated neighborhoods. According to British Oxford Research Group, more than 20,000 have been killed by barrel bombs attacks on residential areas so far, including 11,420 under the age of 17. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
