Interim Government: Geneva II Gives Glimpse Of Hope
Iyad Qudsi, Deputy Prime Minister of the Syrian interim government, said we should not build all of our hopes on Geneva II, describing it as offering a “a glimpse of hope.” Qudsi points out that the interim government’s top priority is to “activate the internal offices and communicate with the Syrian people.” Qudsi rejected labeling the interim government as a “government in exile.” He also stressed that “a detailed work program is going to be submitted to all the supporters of the interim government to emphasize that it is a government of the people and will do its best to provide security and safety and will not deviate from the objectives of the Syrian revolution.” Qudsi echoed that “the Americans are keen on ridding Syria of its chemical weapons.” Moreover, he said that the talks held by Prime Minister Ahmad Tomah in Doha was “more than successful. The Qataris gave unconditional support.” Qudsi also confirms that the interim government began work 43 days ago and prepared plans for many projects. He also said that several countries are wondering about the ability of the interim government and what it can offer to the Syrian people. George Sabra earlier described the truce in Moadamyeh between the residents of the district and regime forces as humanitarian blackmail. “The regime’s practices prove it is an Iranian puppet, as it uses civilians and children to put pressure on the revolutionaries.” Sabra hailed the people of Moadamyeh who he described as “heroes and that all politicians bow to their great courage,” despite agreeing to a truce with the regime.
