Syrian Refugees Slam Officials at Zatari Refugee Camp
The Syrian refugees accused the administration of the Zatari refugee camp of irresponsibility and not taking the precautions necessary to prevent flooding suffered last year by the Syrian refugees because of heavy rainfall. They also said “that cold has hit large numbers of children in the camp,” expressing deep concern due to “overcrowded clinics operating inside the camp in addition to the lack of medicines and medical supplies.” However, the administration confirmed that they prepared plans to deal with the current weather condition by setting up two large tents for sheltering the refugees affected by rain, and that each tent has 100 beds. According to official statements issued by the Jordanian authorities, 130,000 people are living in the camp, while the number of Syrian refugees in Jordan is estimated at 570,000. The Syrian Network for Human Rights issued a report describing the humanitarian situation in the camp as not meeting the international standards for the establishment of the camps. According to the report, the camp is located in a desert area with high temperatures, which leads to the spread of rodents and outbreaks of diseases. The report also said that poor management helped the spread of robberies and some of the problems inside the camp. (Source: Syrian Coalition)

The International Committee noted that the wounded in Syria are often denied treatment because of the siege imposed by the Assad regime. The Committee stressed that the Syrian issue will remain a top priority for the next year, adding that it carried out 120 relief operations this year across the front lines to deliver aid to areas controlled by the opposition, and managed in the last four months to supply around 500,000 Syrian with food and water, compared to 200,000 in the last year. The Committee seeks to raise about $120 million USD to finance its activities in Syria in the largest operation at the world level, despite fears of failure of these efforts.
