Eastern Ghouta is considered one of the most important centers of the popular movement in the Syrian Revolution. It is important to note that Jaish al Islam is one of the fighting factions that joined the biggest revolutionary armed conglomerate called the Islamic Front. The merger of these battalions came as a tribute to the blood of the Abdul Qader Saleh, who was the core of this revolutionary bloc, according to military leaders of these battalions. Hagel added that The United States has a “proven and enduring commitment” to Middle East security, backed by diplomatic engagement and a fierce array of warplanes, ships, tanks, artillery and 35,000 troops. UK’s Hague Warns Syria Threatens To Tear Itself Apart British Foreign Secretary William Hague warned Friday that the conflict in Syria threatens to tear the country apart completely unless a solution is found in 2014.” If the conflict continues, Syria itself could disintegrate and with extremism growing create ungoverned space in the heart of the Middle East,” he said. Hague added that “2014 must be the year to resolve the conflict, which has been gripped the country for nearly three years.” The British Minister referred to “the growing threat of terrorism,” stressing that “Syria’s neighbors will be in the front line in the event of a disastrous intensification of the conflict, and it will also pose a serious threat to other countries in the world, including Europe.” “We have to try to make this a decisive year. If we don’t we will face a humanitarian crisis of potentially unmanageable proportions,” he said. He also added that “on January 22 both the regime and the opposition have to go to Geneva ready to make the necessary compromises.” Hague went on: “Ending the Syrian conflict will be an extraordinarily difficult task; it requires the parties themselves to decide they have more to gain from negotiating than from fighting.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
