The Department of Political Parties and Movements within the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) convened a meeting with the National Promise for Justice and Constitution Party (Waad). The discussion centered around the status of Syrian national parties and the latest developments in Syria’s political landscape.
In attendance were SOC’s Vice-President, Abdul Majeed Barakat, Department coordinator Abdullah Kado, and Department members Farouk Tayfour, Muhammad Ali Issa, and Yahya Maktabi. Representing the Waad Party were Waad’s President, Muhammad Zuhair al-Khatib, Vice President Khaled Shabib, Head of the Political Bureau Hussein Wahoud, and Head of the Council of Elders Amer Fares.
The participants delved into the condition of Syrian national parties and their political roles, emphasizing the need to establish an association to facilitate the exchange of political ideas among them and to mobilize efforts in support of the Syrian people’s ongoing revolution.
The meeting also covered the political process, the status of the Syrian issue on the international stage, and the commitment to implementing international resolutions concerning Syria.
Furthermore, discussions explored the potential representation of various sectors, parties, and national figures within the SOC.
Both parties agreed to maintain ongoing communication and schedule regular meetings according to a defined plan. This collaborative effort aims to expand outreach to a broader array of Syrian national parties, ultimately contributing to expediting an end to the suffering of the Syrian people who aspire to freedom and justice.
