President Khoja called an emergency meeting on Friday to discuss the plan put forward by the UN envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura. He laid out his vision to resume the Geneva negotiations.
The meeting, which is scheduled to last three days, will discuss the documents and notes prepared by the political committee in its latest weeklong meeting. Political committee members met with de Mistura’s team and with representatives from the United States, Turkey, Canada and the European Union.
It is expected that the General Assembly will issue a statement defining its position of participation in the four work groups proposed by de Mistura’s plan. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
