The Syrian Coalition’s Supreme Hajj Committee announced the arrival of the first batch of Syrian intending pilgrims to the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, coming from the Turkish airport of Hatay.
The Committee said that the first batch comprised 167 pilgrims who entered Turkey through Bab al-Hawa border crossing.
The intending pilgrims were received by the administrative staff of the Committee which has managed the affairs of the Syrian pilgrims for the seventh consecutive year.
The Committee has been catering for intending Syrian pilgrims regardless of their places of residence or political affiliations. In addition to helping them obtain travel visas, the Committee’s staff accompany the pilgrims until they reach the Holy Land. The Committee’s administrative, medical and services staff cater for the wellbeing of the pilgrims until they finish Hajj and return home.
Over the past several years, the Syrian Hajj mission has gained the respect of all other missions thanks to the Committee’s effective organization and the discipline shown by the Syrian pilgrims.
The Coalition praised the effective, close cooperation between the Committee and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. “The Coalition, as has been the case over the past years, is keen to ensure that all Syrian citizens from everywhere in Syria have access to the services being provided by the Supreme Haj Committee without any exceptions.”
The Coalition thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the care and services they are providing to the pilgrims and for facilitating their affairs and meeting all their needs to perform the Hajj rituals smoothly and with ease.
The Coalition signed off on the Syrian Hajj policy of 2019 in February, with the contract including a raise in Syria’s quota to 22,500 pilgrims, up from 19,000. More batches will arrive in Saudi Arabia coming from Syria and the neighboring countries. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
