Free Aleppo University has inaugurated a new branch in Ras al-Ayn, Al-Hasakah province, marking the first of its kind in the town. This initiative aims to address the needs of thousands of students who have been unable to pursue higher education due to difficulties accessing universities in other areas.
In its initial phase, the Ras al-Ayn branch includes three institutes: Business Administration, Nursing, and Pharmacy.
This development follows a recent visit by Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) President Hadi Al-Bahra and his accompanying delegation to the region. During the visit, they listened to residents’ concerns and identified local needs. Hussein Al-Raad, a SOC member, said that the university branch’s opening was a result of the SOC’s inspection visit and discussions with community leaders, residents, and students about the region’s educational challenges and the absence of universities and qualified teaching staff.
Al-Raad emphasized that the SOC is working diligently to meet the needs of liberated areas in collaboration with the Syrian Interim Government as part of its vision for advancing northern Syria. He added that education is a top priority, noting the recent opening of a Free Aleppo University branch in Tel Abyad and now another in Ras al-Ayn.
