The Medical Office of the Syrian National Council is going to hold, in collaboration with many doctors, the founding conference of the Free Syrian Medical Association under the slogan “Fee Doctors Establish Their Union” in the period between December 6-8, 2013 in the Turkish city of Gaziantep. Dr. Mustafa Haji Hamid, the head of the Medical Office in the Syrian National Council and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the conference said to the Media Office of the Syrian Coalition that “the Preparatory Committee emanating from the first conference of Syrian doctors worked on the preparation of the Association’s internal system in line with the stage we are going through. A number of criteria were established to determine the number of participants from each province and the number of seats in the Central Council to ensure the participation of everyone. We also took into account the current conditions experienced by each province.” The representation was as follows:
28 doctors in Damascus – represented in the Central Council by 4 doctors,
28 doctors in Aleppo – represented in the Central Council by 4 doctors,
20 doctors in Idleb – represented in the Central Council by3 doctors,
14 doctors in Dara’a – represented in the Central Council by 2 doctors,
3 doctors in Suwaedaa’ – represented in the Central Council by 1 doctor,
3 doctors in Quneitra – represented in the Central Council by 1 doctor,
14 doctors in Homs – represented in the Central Council by 2 doctors,
14 doctor in Hama – represented in the Central Council by 2 doctors,
3 doctors in Tartous – represented in the Central Council by 1 doctor,
12 doctors in Latakia – represented in the Central Council by 2 doctors,
7 doctors in Raqqa – represented in the Central Council by 1 doctor,
7 doctors in Al-Hasakah – represented in the Central Council by 2 doctors, and
12 doctors in Deir al-Zour – represented in the Central Council by 2 doctors.
The total number is 27 doctors, added them 4 doctors from around the world, one from the Gulf States, one from Turkey, one from America, and one from Europe. Thus, the Association’s Central Council consist of 31 doctors. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
